4 Ways to Quickly Clean Up Your Diet

4 Ways to Quickly Clean Up Your Diet

If you want to thrive more in all areas of your life, there’s one substantial change that you can make that will have positive implications in all areas of your life and that’s your diet. As the old saying goes, you are what you eat, and ensuring you’re eating the best quality meals you can will do wonders for your energy levels, your waistline and even your mood. A diet high in processed carbohydrates is not only a health risk for your body and organs, but it can negatively impact your mood. If you’re looking for 4 ways to clean up your diet, keep reading to learn more.

Get Smart About What You Eat
Becoming smarter about what you eat is not only about eating cleaner, but it can also be about finding healthier substitutes that work well for your life. For example, if you’re a big tortilla fan but don’t want to be indulging in tons of empty carbs, why not consider replacing them with smart, low carb tortillas? You can learn more about some of the great options here. This is an easy way to transform your family favorite recipes to lower carb and healthier options with smart substitutes.

Cut Out Sugar
Sugar is regarded as an addictive substance that has very little nutritional value, so why do most of us consume way too much of it each day? The truth is sugar is packed into lots of different foods – often if you buy a fruit smoothie when you’re out and about, it may even have added sugar which is just absolutely unnecessary. Once you change your taste buds so that you’re eating less sugar, you’ll quickly notice you don’t really enjoy the taste that much. If you do want to sweeten things, why not choose healthier alternatives such as honey and maple syrup?

Drink More Water
Our modern life is centered around eating and drinking out – which means drinking a ton of sugar and calorie laden drinks. From cocktails, to sweet coffees, and even fruit juice, when you consume a lot of flavorful beverages you’re consuming extra calories that are just not necessary. But more than that, because they’re in liquid form they’re much faster to be absorbed and spike your blood sugar more dramatically than whole food with fiber, leading to increased weight gain and potential insulin problems down the line.
Eat a Rainbow

One of the best pieces of advice I have for healthy eating and cleaning up your diet is to ‘eat a rainbow.’ Most of the foods that are more nutrient dense are colorful and those that lack nutrients and are just empty calories tend to be white. Think bread, pasta, and rice – while all of these things are absolutely delicious they don’t have a lot of nutrients in them. Choose instead to make your meals as colorful as possible. This is also a great way to think whenever you’re preparing lunch boxes for yourself or your kids. Thinking about making it colorful will help ensure there’s a lot of variety and a good range of vitamins and minerals.

Cleaning up your diet doesn’t have to be hard, follow these four tips and I’m sure you’ll quickly notice the difference in how you look and feel. Interested in upgrading your cladding? Click here to learn more
