Exclusive stories of successful entrepreneurs

Rachel Rivera, The Clean Happy Life, a Paleo, Whole30, and GF food blog, and Whole30 coaching

What’s your backstory and how did you come up with the idea?

I did my first Whole30 in an attempt to get pregnant after dealing with infertility. I loved how it made me feel and decided to go deeper. I became a Whole30 coach and have successfully coached dozens of clients through the program! I also launched my own blog to share more Whole30 recipes, and also paleo and GF recipes.

Describe the process of launching the business.

LOTS of advertising online and around town, joining FB groups to learn and gain exposure, hosting a Whole30 event live in my town, hours spent working on my blog and taking courses on SEO and Pinterest, which means saying no to some social activities an trying to keep a balance.

Since launch, what has worked to attract and retain customers?

Definitely partnering with individuals and businesses in the same line of work and same circles. Doing and accepting takeovers on social media, asking for free advertising in someone else’s FB group/IG account in exchange for advertising for something for them.

How are you doing today and what does the future look like?

I learned I need to invest in a course to help me learn more about blogging. I’m currently making money from coaching and collabs, but am very excited to start making money via my blog as well.

Through starting the business, have you learned anything particularly helpful or advantageous?

Definitely! One is to invest in it. You can’t wait until you make money or else it’ll never happen. You have to give some to get some. Also, networking is huge. I’ve definitely gotten clients this way and gained exposure for sure!

What platform/tools do you use for your business?

Instagram is my main one. I also use Facebook, Pinterest, Constant Contact, and have dabbled with TikTok.

What have been the most influential books, podcasts, or other resources?

The Ikonns podcast andThe Model Health Show podcast. Both motivated me so much to just start and get myself out there. Stupid Simple SEO, a blogging course has been really helpful for me.

Advice for other entrepreneurs who want to get started or are just starting out?

Literally just start. Don’t wait any longer. Just Start and begin, even if you don’t have much to start with.
