In 2025, having an internet connection and power is second nature to many Americans. While the US lifestyle has grown to use electronics more and more in recent decades, the impact of this lifestyle on the US power grid is scarcely considered. Statistically, 2023 was the highest year of power consumption in US history and this statistic is only supposed to get worse over the next few decades. So, what impact would this have on the US power grid?
At present, the current growth in power demand is far outpacing the growth in power supply from the grid. In fact, many pieces of infrastructure within the US power grid are nearing its end of service date, meaning overall energy productivity is going to be harder to grow.
To combat this, replacing transformers is an essential step. By replacing infrastructure that is over 40 years old, the power grid would not only run better but it would also be more efficient and better equipped for the growing power demand. The only way to accommodate for the power demand of tomorrow is by preparing today, and upgrading the US power grid’s transformers is the best way to make sure the grid will keep up.
