Sourcing Raw Materials Efficiently With a Component Search Engine

When looking at a finished product, we often don’t think of the hundreds of component parts that went into the manufacturing process. For example, a household dryer can be made up of 125+ individual parts. Cars are incredibly complicated, with around 30,000 individual parts. These everyday products are a blend of components that manufacturers make themselves or buy from other sources. There is actually a very intricate process to select the correct design of these parts that can take engineers thousands of hours.

There are a few typical methods that an engineer can take to find and select supplier parts as they are designing. The least reliable methods are DIY and sourcing component data directly from the manufacturer. Both are time consuming and have limited selections. Some engineers choose to crowdsource their designs from user generated resources. However, content can be generic, unbranded, and difficult to find after being downloaded.

The best method is to download designs from a component search engine. There is a large selection of brands and products with a high level of accuracy, as the design data is manufacturer certified. There is also instant turnaround and revision timelines, which can reduce the time costs associated with this process significantly.
