What’s your backstory and how did you come up with the idea?
My business partner and I (each individually) have always dreamed of working for ourselves in a coaching and consulting capacity of some sort. When we met in 2019, we were both working for someone doing just that, but unable to provide the strategic, high level of service we envisioned. As we began to share our thoughts and frustrations with one another, it became clear that we needed to start our own business and work with clients motivated to level up and scale.
Describe the process of launching the business.
We started a soft launch with a handful of clients from various industries based on referrals we received. We worked for nine months on our business foundation (name, branding, marketing, service offerings and honing in on our target client).
Since launch, what has worked to attract and retain customers?
It has all been through relationships and networking and is going very well. We just recently decided our target market would be law firms, so we are working to finalize the clients we have in other industries so 2022 we can be more focused.
How are you doing today and what does the future look like?
This is our first year in business and we have far exceeded our expectations and goals. We believe we will triple in 2022.
Through starting the business, have you learned anything particularly helpful or advantageous?
Start messy and done is better than perfect. You can tweak along the way.
What platform/tools do you use for your business?
Microsoft Office, Teams, Monday.com, Toggle Track
What have been the most influential books, podcasts, or other resources?
By far, Biz Chix with Natalie Eckdahl. My partner just joined her Six Figures Lab to help us excel.
Advice for other entrepreneurs who want to get started or are just starting out?
Have faith, work hard and be transparent with clients.
