For Tiffany Sumner, motherhood has been a journey of courage, resilience, and radical honesty.
As the founder of Haus of Media and a seasoned marketing professional with a career that spans advertising, PR, and social media strategy, Tiffany is no stranger to hard work. But her greatest challenge—and greatest source of growth—has come not from clients or campaigns, but from raising her two children as a single mom in the face of overwhelming adversity.
In her words, her experience of motherhood is far from conventional. It’s not polished or picture-perfect—but it is powerful. And through sharing her truth as part of photographer Brianna Shrader’s Mother’s Day storytelling series, Tiffany shines a light on a side of motherhood that is often hidden behind closed doors.
A Life Rebuilt in the Wake of Tragedy
Tiffany’s journey took an unexpected turn during the COVID-19 pandemic, when her former husband tragically died by suicide. Suddenly, she found herself navigating grief, parenting, and business ownership—all while advocating for her young son, who is non-speaking and lives with profound autism.
“I had no choice but to survive,” she says. “With two kids, one with special needs, and no partner to lean on, everything became about keeping us afloat—mentally, emotionally, financially.”
Despite these challenges, Tiffany didn’t crumble. She recalibrated. She poured her energy into growing her business, supporting her family, and becoming a fierce advocate for mental health and the special needs community.
A Business With a Bigger Purpose
Through Haus of Media, Tiffany works with female founders and women-led businesses, helping them gain visibility and success through strategic marketing and content creation. But her work goes beyond analytics and engagement—it’s about amplifying voices that are often overlooked.
“I started Haus of Media to support women,” she explains. “Especially moms. Especially those doing it all and feeling unseen.”
Her agency blends professional expertise with empathy, empowering female entrepreneurs to build brands that not only thrive—but resonate deeply.
And that mission is personal. Tiffany knows the strength it takes to show up for work when your world feels like it’s falling apart. She’s lived it.
What Motherhood Really Means to Tiffany
When asked what motherhood means to her, Tiffany doesn’t sugarcoat it.
“Motherhood is not always sunshine and rainbows,” she says. “It’s raw. It’s beautiful. And it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
To Tiffany, being a mother is about embracing the full spectrum of the experience—the heartbreak, the healing, and the moments of pure joy. It’s about creating a safe, nurturing environment even when you’re navigating chaos yourself.
“Motherhood is our opportunity to raise good humans,” she explains. “To model confidence, kindness, and resilience. To teach our children how to love themselves and others, even when the world is heavy.”
Her perspective is shaped by her lived experience—of raising a neurodivergent son, of surviving loss, and of helping her teenage daughter become the “strongest person” she’s ever met.
The Role of Motherhood in Society
Tiffany believes that the role of mothers in society is both foundational and underappreciated.
“Our future depends on mothers,” she says. “We are raising the next generation. Everything we do—the love we give, the lessons we teach, the boundaries we set—shapes the world our children will inherit.”
But she also points out the gaps—the lack of recognition for single mothers, widows, and caregivers of special needs children. She uses her platform to change that, speaking out in podcasts, interviews, and awareness campaigns that uplift these underrepresented voices.
Most recently, a candle company collaborated with her to launch a product in honor of her son for Autism Awareness Month—an initiative that sold hundreds of units and opened up new conversations about profound autism, acceptance and advocacy.
One Message to Every Mother: Embrace the Journey
If Tiffany could share one message with every mother in the world, it would be this:
“Embrace the journey. It’s not always going to be easy—but it’s always meaningful.”
She encourages mothers to accept the highs and lows, to acknowledge the grief without guilt, and to find strength in their own stories.
“Every trial we go through helps us grow,” she says. “Even the pain brings us closer to joy. And even in our darkest moments, there’s light if we choose to seek it.”
For Tiffany, that light is found in her daughter’s laughter, in the quiet moments of reflection, and in the connection she builds with other mothers navigating their own storms.
A Story That Deserves to Be Seen
Tiffany Sumner’s story is not about perfection. It’s about perseverance. It’s about a woman who turned heartbreak into healing, and who now uses her voice to uplift others.
Through her business, her advocacy, and her raw honesty, she is helping to redefine what strength looks like in motherhood. She is proof that even when life breaks you open, there’s beauty to be found in the rebuilding.
This Mother’s Day, Tiffany’s story is a reminder that every mother’s journey is different—and every story matters. Whether it’s shaped by success, struggle, or something in between, your path as a mother is valid. And like Tiffany says, it’s worth embracing.
