Established California Therapy Practice Changes Name to Mindful Health Solutions to Better Represent its Mission

TMS Health Solutions announced in September 2021 that it would change its name to Mindful Health Solutions effective immediately. The name change is part of a larger rebranding effort for the psychiatry provider to better reflect its commitment to accessible and patient-focused care. Mindful Health Solutions also announced the opening of several new practices in California. The company now has 17 locations in major cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Monica, and Newport Beach.

Mindful Health Solutions Celebrates its 15th Year of Service in 2022

Dr. Richard Bermudes founded TMS Health Solutions in 2007 and it operated under that name until late last year. He has always believed in providing patient-centric care based on evidence-based practices supported by academic research.

Over the past 15 years, therapists working at each of the 17 locations have implemented a wide range of innovative treatment methods with excellent results. Mindful Health Solutions also provides tips and mental health resources to the California communities it serves. The behavioral health practice offers programs related to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and depression care.

Treatments Used for Persistent Mental Health Disorders

Dr. Bermudes is proud of the fact that Mindful Health Solutions leads the industry in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a non-invasive treatment method twice as effective as anti-depressant medication alone. TMS delivers electromagnetic pulses to the frontal cortex of the brain, the area responsible for regulating mood. The treatment works in approximately 60 percent of patients by stimulating cortical neurons and relieving persistent symptoms of depression, including sadness and apathy.

Patients receiving TMS report to the clinic for five 30 to 60-minute sessions each week. TMS treatment runs for approximately four to six weeks. Patients do not receive anesthesia and experience no down time after a session. Although it typically takes several weeks to notice symptom relief, some patients report feeling better in only a week or two. Those with the best TMS results may feel well enough to discontinue their depression medication. For those who cannot, the ability to take less medication is a realistic goal.

Here are the other treatment options currently offered by Mindful Health Solutions:

  • Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT): ECT is a therapy option for people experiencing a persistent mental health concern that has not responded to other treatment methods. Direct currents stimulate the brain and deliberately cause a brief seizure that resets brain chemistry. Patients receive anesthesia and attend up to 12 outpatient treatments over three to four weeks. Those with severe symptoms may need up to 20 ECT treatments before they experience relief.
  • Esketamine: When used with anti-depressant medication as part of a treatment program, the nasal spray Esketamine can be an effective tool in relieving treatment-resistant depression. Patients self-administer the nasal spray under medical supervision, which includes close monitoring for up to two hours after each dose. Patients cannot use esketamine at home and should plan to complete at least 12 sessions over the span of several weeks.

Mindful Health Solutions also offers medication management for patients at all stages of treatment for depression and other common mental health disorders. Each of its 17 clinics provides telepsychiatry for those who prefer to complete non-medical appointments from home.

How Mindful Health Solutions Differs from Other Behavioral Health Practices

Innovation is the one thing that makes this practice stand out from others of its type in California and across the country. When announcing its name change four months ago, Dr. Bermudes also announced “innovative psychiatry services” as the new tagline. He feels that the new name and tagline reinforce the mission of Mindful Health Solutions to offer the most advanced psychiatry services to eliminate or decrease patient suffering.

The mental health therapy service also unveiled a new logo and changed the URL of its website to better reflect its overall vision. Current and prospective patients will notice the new website’s focus on accessible care and groundbreaking psychiatric treatments right away.

How to Become a Patient of Mindful Health Solutions

People who are searching the Internet looking for a “psychiatrist near me” should navigate to the locations page to find contact information for each of the 17 clinics and then call the number to connect with an intake specialist. This person will explain each service available in greater detail and walk people through steps needed to start receiving innovative psychiatric care.
